The following are some Frequently Asked Questions:
Why do we have to pay for the Conference?
- The Soberfest Conference requires months of planning, preparation and significant expense to produce.
There are deposits for the hotel; coffee at the event; travel, room & board for the guest speakers;
printing; postage etc. The total cost of this event is paid through your registration fees. We are
self - supporting and in the spirit of the Seventh Tradition, we "pay our own way".
Attendance at this event is voluntary, but we couldn't put on this Conference without your financial support.
Thank You for being an important part of Soberfest!
How many guests attended this year's Soberfest Conference?
- The 2009 Soberfest Conference had 2355 guests.
Of those, 321 of you pre-registered using our online registration system,
approximately 950 pre-registered via the mail, for a grand total of
nearly 1300 guests who pre-registered.
How many people attended the Banquet this year?
- There are approximately 1400 banquet seats available to the Conference. This year we were sold out,
but we had approximately 60 "no - shows" so there were approximately 1250 guests seated.
How much coffee did we drink at this year's Conference?
- We served up nearly 500 gallons of coffee (regular and decaf) and hot water
at a cost of $19 per gallon.
Will there be a price increase for the 2010 Soberfest Conference?
- While we endeavor to "hold the line" in terms of the price of the Conference,
increased costs are a fact of life. We cannot absorb these cost increases and must therefore pass them on to you.
Be assured that every effort is made to minimize the increases in our costs.
Pound for pound, Soberfest is one of the least costly Conferences in our class
in the country today.
What do you do with all the money taken in at the Conference?
- Except for seed money for the upcoming Conference, all monies are either paid to the facility
or "sent forward" to the districts, areas and GSO per Seventh Tradition Guidelines.
I'm looking for an opportunity to do Service work. How can I help?
